What's under the hood?

The 2018 Dodge Challenger is run by an increasingly powerful series of engines. The SXT and GT run on a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower, 268 pound-feet of torque, and eight-speed automatic transmission. The R/T comes with a 5.7-liter engine that can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission with 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque or an eight-speed automatic with 372 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The R/T 392 is powered by an even bigger 6.4-liter V8 with 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque, but for pure power little compares to the SRT Hellcat and Demon. The Hellcat roars to life with its 6.2-liter V8, 707 horsepower, and 650 pound-feet of torque while the Demon's eight-speed automatic manages up to 808 horsepower and 717 pound-feet of torque. If you have a need for speed, those two are the way to go.

What trim options are there?

With its classic-inspired look, the 2018 Dodge Challenger is immediately recognizable as the muscle car it is. But with a bigger frame, this muscle car has legroom and a sedan-sized trunk that few would expect from such a beast. A powerful car needs powerful options, and this one has no less than seven major trim levels; the SXT, GT, R/T 392, SRT 392, SRT Hellcat, and the SRT Demon. The SXT comes standard with 18-wheels, automatic headlights, heated mirrors, keyless ignition and entry, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, six-speaker sound system, and two USB ports. In addition to the SXT's features, the GT comes with all-wheel drive, fog lights, rear parking sensors, heated and ventilated seats, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with in-car apps, and satellite and HD radio. Like the GT, the R/T builds on the SXT features with added limited-slip differential, fog lights, an active sport exhaust, and upgraded brakes. The R/T 392 comes with performance brakes, rear spoiler and parking sensors, an Alpine audio system, and a sport-tuned suspension. The SRT 392 adds onto the R/T 392's features with power-folding mirrors, Brembo brakes, active suspension dampers, xenon headlights, 18-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, and blind-spot monitoring. The speedy SRT Hellcat is equipped with automatic high beams and wipers, quad exhaust tips, and its own unique exterior styling. Lastly, the powerful SRT Demon boasts an adaptive suspension, street-legal drag slicks, and numerous cooling systems.

How safe is this powerhouse?

The 2018 Dodge Challenger isn't only concerned with power and speed, its safety features are just as important. Among the standard features are a Parkview backup camera, a solid frame and specially designed crumple zones that redirect impacts away from passengers, and front and rear airbags throughout. Other available safety options include forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and rain sensing wipers.
