Tire Sizes Are No Longer a Mystery

Have you ever seen a code on the side of your tires that resembled "P200/70R22" and wondered what that meant? Luckily, we here at Charlie’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM in Maumee, OH are here to give you the basics on tire sizing.

The "P" stands for passenger vehicle which is the most common type on the road today. The 200 means the tire is 200 millimeters in width. After the slash mark the 70 is to be read as a percent of the ration of the tire's width to height. "R" means it is a radial tire and the last two-digit number indicates the tires are 22 inches in diameter. Any combination of numbers in the order can be read to determine the exact size of your vehicle's tires.

If you would like us to both order and install a new set of tires for you feel free to give us a call in our service center at Charlie’s Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM in Maumee, OH today!
