Performance of the Wrangler Rubicon 392
Coming Soon to Charlie's CDJR
The Jeep Wrangler has been an icon on and off the road for many years. Its unique styling is instantly recognizable, and its off-road capability is second-to-none. For many years, Jeep fans have been longing for a V8 engine under the hood of the Wrangler. And for the 2021 model year, Jeep has finally done it! The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 features a tried and true 6.2L V8 engine that is 392 cubic inches of pure muscle! Keep reading below to take an in-depth look at what makes the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 the quickest, most powerful Wrangler ever!
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 engine specs
As stated above, the 392 features a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine. This kicks out an exciting 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque to match. To give you an idea of just how much more power that is, the Wranglers equipped with a 3.6L V6 engine goes from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. While that is an impressive number, the 392 does it in just 4.5 seconds! The Wrangler 392 also features a robust TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters to deliver smooth shifts and maximum performance. The engine is cooled by Jeep's Hydro-Guide air intake with a functional hood scoop. The Dual-Mode Exhaust System allows drivers to switch between quiet and performance modes. Quiet mode lets drivers moderate the exhaust sounds while performance mode opens up the electronically-controlled valves for that unmistakable throaty V8 engine sound.
Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 off-road capability
Although it may seem like the 392 is a performance street vehicle, it is still a Wrangler! The 392 earned its Trail Rated badge on the rugged terrain of the Rubicon Trail in California. The approach, breakover, and departure angles have all been enhanced for the 392 for greater clearance when navigating over tough ground. The suspension travel of the 392 has also been upgraded with FOX high-performance shocks with a two-inch factory lift. The frame rails are upgraded and allow the frame to handle the extra power and withstand treacherous terrain. The Wrangler 392 features intuitive four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case, wide-track Dana 44 heavy-duty axles, an electronic front sway bar disconnect, and electronic locking front and rear differentials. It can also take on 32.5 inches of water thanks to the Hydro-Guide air intake. This can channel up to 15 gallons of water away from the air intake through three separate ducts. If the Hydro-Guide air intake is completely obscured, a secondary air intake is employed to keep the cold air flowing to the engine.
